For more than three decades, Africa has been an important part of my life. What began as a passion for wildlife photography gradually became a deep connection with Tanzania, its wildlife, its landscapes and the unique atmosphere of the African bush.
Africa Photography was created to share this experience with a small number of travellers who wish to go beyond a traditional safari and experience Tanzania through a photographic perspective.
Discover photographic safaris in Tanzania designed for small groups, with a maximum of four participants per vehicle, multilingual support in Italian, French, English and German, and an ethical approach that places wildlife photography and respect for nature at the centre of every journey.
Each safari is built around light, animal behaviour, composition and observation. It is not simply about seeing many animals, but about experiencing a true photographic safari with the time, space and patience needed to create stronger, more personal and more meaningful images.
Why Travel With Me in Tanzania?
Many companies offer safaris in Tanzania. Few are personally accompanied by someone who has spent more than three decades travelling and photographing Africa.
My first journey to Africa took place in 1989 and my first visit to Tanzania in 1993. Since then, I have returned regularly to explore its national parks, wildlife reserves and remote wilderness areas, always with a camera and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Today, every safari is personally accompanied by me and designed around a simple philosophy: small groups, meaningful wildlife encounters, ethical photography and the time needed to truly observe and enjoy Tanzania.
When you join one of these safaris, you benefit from:
* More than 30 years of experience travelling and photographing Africa* Personal accompaniment throughout the entire journey* Small groups with a maximum of four participants per vehicle* Photography mentoring in the field and during image review sessions* Multilingual support in English, Italian, French and German* Ethical wildlife photography practices that respect animals and their environment* Carefully selected local guides and accommodations based on long-term experience* A relaxed pace that prioritises observation, photography and enjoyment over rushing from one sighting to the next
Whether you are an experienced wildlife photographer, a birdwatcher, or simply someone who enjoys nature and photography, the goal is the same: to experience Tanzania more deeply and return home with stronger images, new skills and unforgettable memories.
Why I Created Africa Photography
My first journey to Africa took place in 1989 and my first visit to Tanzania in 1993. Throughout an international professional career, photography remained a constant passion and Tanzania a place to which I returned again and again.
Just prior to retiring in 2026, I created Africa Photography to share this experience through a small number of personally accompanied photographic safaris each year.

Should you prefer a private journey, I can help you design a tailor-made photographic safari in Tanzania based on your interests, the time of year, your photographic level, your budget and the travel rhythm you prefer.
We can include classic parks such as Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Ndutu, or more unusual and less visited itineraries such as Nyerere, Ruaha, Katavi, Lake Natron, Mkomazi, or customised combinations between Northern and Southern Tanzania.
A tailor-made safari gives you greater flexibility: more time where the light is interesting, more patience in front of animal behaviour, more attention to composition and less pressure from overly rigid itineraries. It is the ideal solution for photographers, couples, friends or small groups looking for a journey built around photography.
Safari Photography Workshop During the Journey
This photographic safari includes an informal but structured workshop component designed to help participants improve their wildlife photography while travelling through Tanzania.
The workshop is not separated from the safari experience. It takes place naturally during the journey: in the vehicle, in the field, at the lodge and during the quieter moments of the day. The goal is to learn from real situations, real light, real animal behaviour and the images created by each participant.
Daily Image Review and Group Discussion
Whenever time and logistics allow, we review the photographs taken during the day.
Together, we discuss:
1. use of light and exposure2. composition and framing3. timing and animal behaviour4. background and perspective5. sharpness and technical choices6. what worked well7. what could be improved
Each participant can share selected images, and the group discusses them in a constructive and respectful way. The objective is not criticism, but continuous improvement: learning from each other, understanding different photographic choices and developing a stronger eye day after day.
Participant-Driven Topics
The workshop remains flexible. Additional topics can be discussed according to the needs and interests of the participants, such as:
- camera settings- autofocus strategies- photographing birds in flight- low-light photography- action and movement- black and white wildlife photography- portfolio selection- storytelling through images- preparing images for social media or print
This approach makes the safari both a wildlife experience and a practical photographic learning journey.
Post-Production and Image Quality
The workshop can also include practical discussions on post-production and digital workflow.
Depending on the interest of the group, we may cover:
+ working with RAW files+ image selection with Adobe Bridge+ basic and advanced adjustments in Adobe Photoshop+ improving contrast, colour, sharpness and local detail+ careful use of Nik Collection+ preparing images for web, print or personal archives+ maintaining a natural and ethical approach to wildlife photography
The aim is not to over-process images, but to bring out the quality already present in the original photograph while respecting the atmosphere of the scene.

- Participants often return home with far more than photographs.- They remember the silence before sunrise in Tarangire.- The sound of fish eagles along the Rufiji River.- A herd of elephants disappearing into the dust at sunset.- The excitement of reviewing images together after dinner.- And the feeling of spending time in places where wildlife still follows its natural rhythm. The photographs remain. The memories often stay even longer.
And if printed in a photographic album the stay forever.
My connection with Africa began in 1989 during my first journey to the continent. Four years later, in 1993, I visited Tanzania for the first time, a country that would become the centre of my photographic travels for more than three decades.
Wildlife photography has accompanied me throughout my life. While pursuing an international career in business development, leadership and corporate governance, photography remained a constant passion and a way to reconnect with nature, patience and observation. Over the years, I travelled extensively across Tanzania and other African countries, exploring both well-known national parks and more remote wilderness areas.
After retiring from my main professional activities in 2026, I decided to dedicate more time to these long-standing passions and created Africa Photography.
The idea was simple: to offer a small number of personally accompanied photographic safaris each year for travellers who wish to experience Tanzania beyond a traditional safari. Rather than focusing on large groups and fixed schedules, Africa Photography is built around small groups, personal attention, wildlife observation and photography.
Every safari is personally accompanied by me and limited to a maximum of four participants per vehicle. This allows greater flexibility, individual guidance and more opportunities to focus on photography, whether participants are experienced wildlife photographers, birdwatchers or simply nature enthusiasts.
Photography is approached with patience, respect and an ethical mindset. The objective is not only to observe wildlife, but to understand animal behaviour, appreciate the quality of light, improve photographic skills and create images that tell a story.
Participants benefit from multilingual support in English, Italian, French and German, carefully selected local guides and accommodations, and more than thirty years of experience travelling and photographing Africa.
Africa Photography was created to share this experience and to help others discover Tanzania through a more personal, thoughtful and photography-oriented approach to safari travel.
